Blueberry Pumpkin Dog Treats

Blueberry Pumpkin Dog Treats

Happy Thursday peeps!

It was finally sunny and only 73 the other day so Fall is definitely here and in the air, and I could not be more excited. We had the windows open, Cinnamon Pumpkin candles burning, and of course, I did a little baking for the dogs. Just a modern day Betty Crocker in the kitchen.
Mainly because the recipe took 20 minutes and only required 5 ingredients.

I figured I probably couldn’t flood ALD with nothing but pumpkin recipes for people (or could I??), so I’m showing some love to all the pooches out there and making a tasty Fall pumpkin treat just for them.

Blueberry Pumpkin Dog Treats

Dog treats are insanely expensive (like, why is it $15 for a box of 20 treats???), and filled with who knows what, so I’m definitely into making my own treats lately.

Before I share the recipe, let’s break down the health benefits of each ingredient for your pup:

Pumpkin:

+ Pumpkin is rich in fiber so it’s amaze for your dog’s digestive system.
+ Can prevent furballs.
+ Supports urinary tract health.
+ Grinding up fresh pumpkin seeds until they’re a powder and
feeding them to your pup 3 times a day, will act as a natural de-wormer.
+ Pumpkin seeds contain a ton of antioxidants and essential fatty acids. Roasting the
seeds and giving them 2-3 a day will help moisturize their fur and skin.
+ Pumpkin is loaded with  Vitamin A, beta-carotene, potassium, copper, zinc, and
manganese.
++ Give 2 tbsp of organic, canned pumpkin daily, or 2-3 roasted pumpkin seeds.

Coconut Oil:
+
 Improves bad breath.
+ Helps control dry skin and dandruff, so it’s great if your dog itches a lot.
+ If your dog has a funky odor, give them coconut oil. Coco oil treats yeast overgrowth which can sometimes be the cause of a bad smell.
+ Conditions rough paws.
+ Improves nutrient absorption.
+ Helps boost energy.
++ Give 1/4 of tbsp per every 10 pounds of weight daily.

Blueberries:
+ High in fiber, so they’ll help keep your dog regular.
+ Basically a superfood for humans and for your pet.
+ Natural source of vitamins, including A, C, E, & K, and contain minerals like iron, potassium, and manganese.
+ Support joint health and maintain healthy bones.
++ Give a few thoroughly washed BB’s to your pup a day.
