So this post is kinda rando, but whatevs. Arthur is always saying how weird it is that I shovel these wrinkled up, cockroach resembling yummies into my mouth, so I figured I would share it here and see how many other people are out there like me, and are just as obsessed with dates as I am.
My obsesh with these things started when I was little and I would go to my grandparents house for a few days each week during the Summer. My grandma always had figs and dates in the house, and my grandparents had an insane garden with plum and tangerine trees, carrots, peas, tomatoes..
You name it- they most likely grew it. And if they didn’t, their neighbors: The Frizzell’s did. My grandma would trade them plums and tangerines for the figs from their tree, and I would eat them like they were going out of style.
Those, and of course dates.
So, my love for dates has been around for 20 plus years, and I don’t give a fuck that they look like giant bugs, because they’re delicious and they’re crazy good for you.
Here’s the Sitch:
“The benefits of dates include relief from constipation, intestinal disorders, heart problems, anemia, sexual dysfunctions, diarrhea, abdominal cancer, and many other conditions. Dates are also good for gaining weight. They are rich in several vitamins, minerals and fiber too. These delicious fruits contain oil, calcium, sulfur, iron, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, copper and magnesium which are all beneficial for health. Some health specialists have said that eating one day per day is necessary for a balanced and healthy diet.”
Dates Dates are a good source of various vitamins and minerals. Its also a good source of energy, sugar and fiber. Essential minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium and zinc can be found in them. They also contain vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, vitamin A and vitamin K.

I probably eat about 3-4 every night when I want to avoid heading straight for the carton of ice cream or 20 chocolate bars. They seriously help that sweet craving and are just super good for you. It’s a win-win really. Dates are an amaze energy booster, so if you’re feeling a little “meh” during the day or pre/post workout, pop a couple of these in your mouth and instantly you feel more awake.
I eat them plain, but you can add them to smoothies for an extra sweetness kick, or to yogurt with granola- yum yum yum.
Alright, well, that’s enough rambling about my fave snack. Off to finish season 2 of Game of Thrones (yes, yes I am way behind. But better late than never, right?)
