So I’ve always been very much into the environment and animals and just doing what I can to keep the planet as great as possible.
I recycle, turn the water off when brushing my teeth, shove as many clothes as possible into the washing machine, purchase only eco-friendly products… you get it.
That being said, I was taking blog pics one day and realized that I have been using plastic straws, which are the worst things in the entire world.
I know, I know. I’m feel like the biggest asshole.
They kill marine life, wind up in landfills, and really don’t do a whole lot of anything good for anyone.
So, I do what I do best, got on Pinterest and started searching for reusable straws and stumbled across this super cute website that sells glass straws.
Yes. Glass straws.
In several colors and types (bent or straight, tall or short).
Basically have fallen in love with them and use them for everything.
Idk, call me crazy, but I even feel a little fancy using my glass cherry blossom colored straws for everything, from cold brew and chai lattes, to boozy sips, and even just plain old water.
Because why not??
Btw, this post isn’t sponsored. I legit paid only 15 bucks for 2 pink straws.
I even forced Arthur to start using them, but because he complained about how girly they were, I ordered a set of BPA free plastic straws in a ton of colors just for him.
But, does color really matter when you’re doing good for the sea turtles and dolphins?
I think not.
BENEFITS OF USING GLASS STRAWS
+ PROTECTS YOU FROM TOXINS – Plastics contain a very dangerous chemical called Bisphenol A (BPA), which has been linked to hormonal disruption, obesity, early puberty, as well as breast and prostate cancers. The coloring in plastic straws is also poisonous. Our glass straws are 100% non-toxic and will not cause any health problems!
+ PREVENTS STAINED TEETH & CAVITIES – Research has shown that using a straw minimizes the contact between your teeth and sugary drinks, reducing the risk of cavities. For the same reason, using a straw also prevents tooth stains from tea and coffee. (P.S., plastic straws can’t be used in hot drinks, but glass straws can…)
+ HELPS THE ENVIRONMENT – In the U.S. we use over 500 million plastic straws DAILY. Plastic is not biodegradable, meaning every plastic straw used since they were invented in 1938 is still around in some form, leaching toxic chemicals into the water and soil. The good news is that just one person switching to a Hummingbird Glass Straw can keep about 38,000 nasty plastic straws out of the environment forever! Now think of the difference you can make if you give glass straws to friends and family.
+RESISTS BREAKING – Remember those nearly indestructible Pyrex bowls and plates your mother and grandmother had? These are made of the exact same stuff! Naturally clear, this borosilicate glass is shatter-resistant, making it both durable and safe to drink from.

Basically, if you’re still using plastic straws or even plastic utensils, you need to quit. Unless you want to be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent sea animals.
Besides, reusable straws make much better blog props and look way cuter in your drink than plastic straws.
Lemme know if I’ve swayed you into switching to a more eco-friendly option.
